This Privacy Policy explains how BlinkDrop ("the app", "we", "us") handles information. BlinkDrop is developed by Shreesha Innanje. By using the app you agree to the practices described here.
To provide its core function, BlinkDrop requires access to files and media stored on your device. This is used only to list, preview, stream, download, and upload files that you choose to share while the server is running.
MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) permission, which you grant manually in system settings. This access happens entirely on your device. The contents of your files are transmitted only over your local Wi‑Fi network to devices that connect to your server. Your files are never sent to the developer or any external server.
MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (All files access, Android 11+) — required so BlinkDrop can browse, preview, and serve all file types, including documents, as a file manager / local file server. You grant this manually in system settings, and it is used only to list and transfer files at your request. It is never used to read or upload your files to us or any third party.READ_MEDIA_AUDIO, READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — to browse, preview, and serve your media/files on devices or Android versions where All files access is not used.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 9 and below) — to save files uploaded from a connected device.INTERNET, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_STATE — to run the local web server on your Wi‑Fi and show the connection address. The app does not require or use an internet/cloud connection to transfer your files.FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_CONNECTED_DEVICE, POST_NOTIFICATIONS — to keep the local server running reliably while a device is connected over Wi‑Fi, and to show its status in a notification. When you start the server, BlinkDrop hosts your selected content over your local Wi‑Fi network using a standard HTTP connection on your device's local IP address (default port 8080). Any device on the same Wi‑Fi network that opens that address (for example by scanning the QR code) can browse and transfer the shared files while the server is running.
Security note: The local connection is unencrypted (HTTP) and is not password‑protected. Only start the server on Wi‑Fi networks you trust, and stop the server when you are finished. We recommend not running the server on public or untrusted networks.
BlinkDrop offers a paid unlock (in‑app purchase) after a limited free usage allowance. All payments are processed by Google Play Billing. We do not collect or store your name, card number, or payment information. Google may share limited purchase information (such as an anonymized purchase token and purchase status) with us so we can verify and restore your purchase. Google's handling of your payment data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
The app may store a local record on your device (for example, how many times the server has been started and whether the unlock has been purchased) solely to enforce the free‑usage limit. This information stays on your device.
Because we do not collect your content, there is nothing for us to retain. Any local settings (such as the usage counter or purchase status) remain on your device and are removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
BlinkDrop is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country) and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Since the app does not collect personal data on our servers, there is no personal data for us to access, correct, or delete. You can revoke the app's permissions at any time in your device settings, and you can remove all local app data by uninstalling the app.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the revised policy.
